Objective

RTI International aimed to transform its desktop-based Municipal Solid Waste Decision Support Application into a web application. They wanted to ensure better user experience, and mobility for the application users and enable them to make better-informed decisions related to material usage, waste management, and new environment development strategies.

Business Challenges

Revamping an age-old application with high-end technologies while executing existing complex business logic in the new application is one of the challenges of the project. The application needed comprehensive support on all sides including enhanced user interface, added security, improved performance, centralized control over data, and a faster reporting mechanism along with an intuitive dashboard that serves different needs of different users.

Solution & Outcome

With the help of an experienced team and solution architects, we re-engineered the whole application on ASP.NET MVC. New rules were written to ensure the application’s compliance with State and Federal government policies. We employed HTML, JavaScript, and jQuery and designed interactive user interfaces for the web application. Microsoft Office Interop and C# were used for Excel Automation. Our developed application now serves its purpose by allowing users to log in to the application from anywhere with an easy user interface and navigate through reports in ways they need in GUI format. The client used the Azure cloud and deployed the web application in order to leverage cloud features.
